Rahul's map - part 4

Often when I’m given direction to someone’s place I always forget unless I hand draw the map with arrows and how many lights I will be going through. Without I cannot visualize the route and therefore I forget and get lost. So I created a system that instead of having papers or forgetting, make the map on the computer and transfer it to my PDA via Bluetooth. The reason I wont just print it is because sometime I have to be somewhere after a couple of days and I tend to forget. And even with a calendar at home I sometime ignore it. So incase that happens I will already have the route on my PDA and I can set a reminder and a alarm on my PDA to remind me.

So to setup something like this you will need the following:

Ingredients:

- Bluetooth enabled PDA
- Bluetooth enabled phone
- Bluetooth enabled computer or Laptop
-
Other Ingredients of choice:

- A calendar
- A timetable and a list of you important dates and events
- An alarm clock
- And most importantly, self-motivation!

To Do! – Go from OCAD to 95 D’arci

Make the map on the computer using Illustrator even Photoshop, and if your not to familiar with these program, simply hand draw it and scan it onto your computer. Then using the Bluetooth device to transfer the file onto your PDA.

Once you have everything onto your PDA, you setup you PDA to remind you of the date you need to go to the place and what time to set off the alarm. So for example, two days after your alarm goes off at 11:00 am telling you have to be somewhere and then shows you the map.

Then you just follow the step-by-step instruction and you will be there in no time.

Also:

I always forget the GO train schedule and I don’t always have the schedule sheet on me. But if I have my PDA, I can setup my schedule on it and setup reminders of on what time I have to take the train on certain days. The reminders can go off with an alarm about 45 minute priors to the actually time. Which should give me enough time to get ready and arrive at the station.
I can use the GO emoticon that I would download onto my PDA to check the time I have to take it. And also set up a separate folder incase I want to change the time.
In this way I have reminders and alarms, making sure that I won’t miss my train.

Rahul, your absolutely right about the problem of forgetting lots of scraps of paper with hand-drawn maps, phone numbers, addresses, dates, etc. For all of us - not just people with amnesia - these bits and peices tend to accumulate in no particular order, then get mixed up, lost and forgotten. I think that's why the Palm project was successful with the folks at memory link at Baycrest - because it is simply easier just to remember to bring your Palm device. I like your illustrations for this assignment - they make it quite clear, what you have in mind with your recipe. Enjoy your holiday!
