Brads Mapping

Ok so here is the idea I had for my mapping. Due to the fact that I couldnt get the image that i wanted to show u guys i will explain what I mean. So from your PDA device u get satelite images of the area that you are in. It can point where you are and it will pop up with little blocks on the screen that shows the person all the places that they go to or the people that they know in that area. They can click on whatever block that they want (my example says mount Sinai Hospital) and then it bring up another map a mor simplicated version as shown, with the directions of how to get there. That way if the person walks outside the door and then stop cause they forgot where they were going they can open the PDAdevice and it shows all the places that they know and that can refresh their memory and also makes sure they know how to get there. Other options could be images of emotions that can be loaded after the last time they were at someones place. So if the last time they were at their friends but they got into a fight they will be able to remember they were in a fight and be able to talk it out or avoid going over there. Hope this works. Brad.

I think that this would work Brad, but there are some technical 'maybe's' (pls excuse the pun!)... the pda device would have to be equiped with GPS, and would have to handle connecting to something like Google World, and be able to download and display a satellite image from that location. It is a bit 'blue sky' but that is how innovation happens!
Satellite images may not be the best way to bring up a familiar setting - unless we are up in the CN Tower, or a satellite, we don't usually get that bird's eye view - so it may just be easier to do a series of photos along familiar or often-used routes that could be linked to GPS co-ordinates and then called up via gps to the PDA.
a technology called wifi max is being researched similar to GSM. A single tower can cover wireless internet upto 52km. At the moment many pda, cell phones are being launched in the asian and european market with wifi enabled or sometimes called wlan. i see a link between this technology and brad's concept.
Thanks for the input mazmohad - perhaps today, our last class, we'll have a chance to discuss, however briefly, what is up in Asia. Wifi sounds interesting -- and it begs the question, how futuristic to go in our ideas/plans/recipes. What seems impossible now has a way of becoming ubiquitous really soon -- certainly, by the time our ideas reach the marketable stage. Excellent work, Brad.
